Donald Trump expressed “regrets” if his speeches have offended anyone. Well of course they have, and his comment is not an apology in any sense. It is simply and only a statement he made in an effort to minimize the outrage his foolish, witless, mean words have provoked among so very many Americans. It failed. Everyone saw through it. It amounts to what a lot of us have called out when others have issued “apologies” that are not really apologies. That word is “bullshit.”
